John Ward, President, Corporate Director

A former McKinsey & Co. consultant, Mr. Ward, an American, has more than 30 years’ experience advising clients in the food and agribusiness sectors. His background includes executive vice president of Promar International and president of Ward International in Washington DC and previously as a senior executive in several major companies and organizations throughout the USA.

Rie Yoshida, Administrator, Corporate Director

Ms. Yoshida represented Promar in Japan for 10 years prior to the opening of the Tokyo office. She and Mr. Ward are the founders of Promar Consulting. Previously she was market research manager for Pro Global Inc. and an Account Executive at Burson-Marsteller, the largest US public relations firm.

Ivan Cardenas, Senior Consultant

Born in Lima, Peru, Mr. Cardenas has an MA in International Development from the University of Nagoya. He has previously worked for the Spanish Embassy in Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Chile, the General-Consulate of Japan in Miami and the Enterprise Florida Tokyo Office. His research has focused on economic and trade issues between Japan and Latin America including agricultural exports, tariff issues, FTA analysis and foreign investment. Ivan has coordinated emergency financial aid from the Japanese government to Chile and also organized many trade missions from Spain to Japan. He is a native Spanish and Japanese speaker and fluent in English.

Junko Hayashida, Promotion Manager, Research Analyst

Ms. Hayashida has long experience working with South American and Spanish products in Japan. Prior to joining Promar she was an analyst and project coordinator for the Embassy of Argentina and a graduate of Sophia University, specializing in Hispanic studies. Junko is fluent in Japanese, Spanish and English.

Mari Uema, Research Analyst

Ms. Uema has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augsburg College in the U.S. with a major in Economics and minor in Mathematics and International Relations. At Promar, she is currently working on a project for the Norwegian Seafood Council. She is fluent in Japanese and English.
