John Ward, President, Corporate Director
A former McKinsey & Co. consultant, Mr. Ward, an American, has more than 30 years’ experience advising clients in the food and agribusiness sectors. His background includes executive vice president of Promar International and president of Ward International in Washington DC and previously as a senior executive in several major companies and organizations throughout the USA.
Rie Yoshida, Administrator, Corporate Director
Ms. Yoshida represented Promar in Japan for 10 years prior to the opening of the Tokyo office. She and Mr. Ward are the founders of Promar Consulting. Previously she was market research manager for Pro Global Inc. and an Account Executive at Burson-Marsteller, the largest US public relations firm.
Junko Hayashida, Promotion Manager, Research Analyst, Coordinator of Promotion
Ms. Hayashida has long experience working with South American and Spanish products in Japan. Prior to joining Promar she was an analyst and project coordinator for the Embassy of Argentina and a graduate of Sophia University, specializing in Hispanic studies. Junko is fluent in Japanese, Spanish and English.
Paul Tsai, Consultant, Marketing Manager
Mr. Tsai, a Canadian, worked for the marketing division for PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining Promar Consulting. With Promar he has researched the functional food market in Japan and conducted several analyses of the Japanese seafood trade. Currently, Paul oversees the marketing activities of Promar. Born in Taiwan and raised in the U.S. and Canada, Paul is fluent in English, Japanese and Mandarin.
Ivan Cardenas, Research Analyst
Born in Lima, Peru, Mr. Cardenas has an MA in International Development from the University of Nagoya. He has previously worked for the Spanish Embassy in Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Chile, the General-Consulate of Japan in Miami and the Enterprise Florida Tokyo Office. His research has focused on economic and trade issues between Japan and Latin America including agricultural exports, tariff issues, FTA analysis and foreign investment. Ivan has coordinated emergency financial aid from the Japanese government to Chile and also organized many trade missions from Spain to Japan. He is a native Spanish and Japanese speaker and fluent in English.
Reiko Tominaga, Research Analyst
Prior to joining Promar, Ms. Tominaga was involved in research and development/management for ODA projects at JICA and the Embassy of Japan in Zimbabwe. Prior to that she worked for a Japanese pharmaceutical firm. She has an MA in Governance and Development from IDS, University of Sussex in the UK. She also has a BA in Political Science from Keio University, with a focus on African Area Studies. She is a native Japanese speaker and fluent in English.
Mina Suzuki, Research Analyst
Ms. Suzuki has a Masters Degree in International Economics and International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), and a BA in Political Science from Washington University in St Louis. Before joining Promar, she was a consultant at the World Bank in Washington, DC, where she worked on international agriculture and land governance policy. Mina speaks fluent Japanese and English and is proficient in French.
